In the spring of 2014, a 6.3 Richter scale earthquake hit the area of Chiang Rai in Northern Thailand, destroying a large number of buildings, among which 9 elementary schools, leaving hundreds of children without educational facilities. This tragedy brought together the community as well as a number of specialists (engineers, consultants, school principals, teachers), under the lead of Design for Disasters who asked 9 Thai architects to aid in redesigning the schools and with the guidance of the Association of Siamese Architects, the work was successfully completed in very little time.
You can find out more about each school on the World Architecture site.
